FILOMINA MARY IELPI, 88, of Little Falls died April 15, 2024 at St. Joseph University Medical Center in Paterson.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Filomina, (or as she preferred to be called, Fil), resided there for most of her life before moving to Little Falls, NJ in 1998. She had been an Executive Assistant for Mobil Oil Company up until their merger with Exxon. While working full time in this demanding corporate field, she put herself through college. In 1985 she graduated with honors from Brooklyn College with a Bachelors in Sociology. Subsequently, she worked in Brooklyn College in their office of Student Affairs.
Fil volunteered at the Little Falls Public Library for many years and was also a volunteer in Manhattan’s International Center where she was a conversation partner with students for whom English was a second language. Fil was a world traveler and had been almost everywhere.
Fil was a parishioner of Holy Angels RC Church, Little Falls, was a member of the Little Falls Community Chorale and of the Alliance for a Better Community (ABC) of Little Falls.
She was predeceased by her parents, Mansueto and Mary (nee Padula) Ielpi and her brother, Thomas Ielpi.
Survivors include: her brother, Anthony Ielpi and his wife Amey of Brick, NJ and her nieces and nephews: Christina McDonald and her husband John McDonald of Little Falls, NJ; Stephen Ielpi of San Francisco, CA.: Cathy Ielpi and her partner Michael Colavito of Freehold, NJ; .Alicia Perez and her husband Tony Perez of Manalapan, NJ; Jennifer Chmura and her husband Kevin Chmura of Tewksbury, NJ; Michael Ielpi and his wife Debra Ielpi of North Las Vegas, NV; as well as great nieces and nephews: Corinne, Dylan, Nicholas, Gregory, Aja, Tyler, Ryan, Sophia, Dante and Dali.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday at Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Little Falls. Funeral will be 9:00 am Friday from the funeral home and 9:30 am at Holy Angels RC Church, 465 Main St., Little Falls. Private Cremation to follow.
