Vilma De Lotto Obituary

VILMA (nee Palatini)  DE LOTTO, 90, formerly of Little Falls and Clifton died Oct. 22, 2020 in Southbury, CT.

Vilma loved her parents. She would talk to her mom on the phone daily if they didn't see one another. She always appreciated the things her father built and did for her around the house. Her parents were a great help raising her family. There were dinners of polenta or gnocchi and stew on Sundays and stories and many tall tales from the old country. While born in the U.S., she spent four of her childhood years on a farm in Italy. She had fond memories of growing up in their cold water flat in Garfield before moving to Clifton where she met her husband Mario. Her time at Garfield High School was memorable and she kept in touch with the friends she made there throughout her life. She had a lifelong friendship with her brother and enjoyed playing tennis with him and their lunches together: his specialties were potato pancakes and stuffed clams. She loved her husband of 50 years who she married while he was an officer in the army. She would fondly recall their time in San Francisco before he shipped off for the Korean War.  Vilma loved her four children who she devoted her life to raising and her five grandchildren who she doted over. She loved the uniqueness of her California Ranch home in Little Falls, which she and her husband built and lived in from 1961 until she moved to the Hearth in Southbury Connecticut in 2013.  She loved her summer home at the Jersey Shore, where she spent endless summers taking frequent bike rides along the backwaters and boat rides on the Barnegat Bay, with stops at sand bars to swim and explore. Her children and grandchildren enjoyed many summers "down the shore". Vilma was a world traveler.  She explored the four corners of the world with her husband and daughter and loved retelling all her adventures.

Vilma is predeceased by her husband, Mario G. De Lotto in 2004, by her son, Gregory J. De Lotto in 2012, her parents, Joseph and Mary (nee Seraglia) Palatini and her brother, Aldo Palatini.

She is survived by her three children, Linda S. De Lotto of Barnegat, NJ, David B. De Lotto and his wife, Angela of Southbury, CT and Mark L. De Lotto and his wife, Marybeth of San Luis Obispo, CA; her five grandchildren, Nicholas, Garret, Andrea, Cortney, Kyle and her two great grandchildren, Mia Rose and Luca.
