Angel Berrocal

Angel Berrocal was an extraordinary human being who lived up to his name tenfold. He was a proud and caring father to his three daughters Liliana Stephanie, Lydia Nathalie, and Anali Rose. He was a loving and exemplary husband to Lidia Rosa Berrocal, his wife of 32 years. As well as a doting grandfather to his only grandson, Elias Hunter Harris.

Angel was born in Lima, Peru. Son of Santiago Berrocal Leon and Amadora Alva de Berrocal. He was the fifth of six children and had a unique love for his siblings, Antonio, Julio, Gloria, Santiago, and Elizabeth. With his family, he leaves an innumerable amount of stories of being a guide and loving uncle to all his nieces and nephews. Though he was immensely loved and had an amazing life in Peru where he also met his wife, he bravely started a new life here in the United States. He never forgot his roots and firmly knew he had a duty to his country and never gave up on his other love, Peru. He worked closely with and for the Peruvian government and Peruvians living abroad. Due to his extensive education in both economy and law, he was able to help many Peruvians. He was a founding member in the Consejos de Consulta en el Consulado Peruano on an international level for years. He was an active member of Asociación Ancash NJ USA which helped mostly children in need in the most underdeveloped parts of Peru. In his patriotism, he founded the Convenciones PEX with other Peruvian leaders. He also was a leader in the Peruvian community by participating in Peruvian Parade Inc. He ran for congress to represent the Peruvians living abroad.

To all who knew him, he was a generous and kindhearted man. Just as equally a warrior for those who needed it, whether they were family or strangers. He treated all with dignity and respect. He was a man of strength and faith, but most of all a man of love. He opened his home and heart to anyone who was in need. He would gladly give more than ever expected to all he encountered, from legal advice to a place to rest or as simple as an invitation to his home for grilled steaks he loved to make. He would never deny a request to help anybody in need. He has housed numerous family members and neighborhood friends from Peru.

He also gave the most precious gift, his time. He assisted with the church in Peru and in the United States. He participated in the Christian community with the Hermandad de la Virgen del Carmen of Paterson as well as serving as a catechist at Senor de Los Milagros in Lima Peru. He would spend countless hours in the Paterson courthouse to help immigrants by translating for them. Although he did not know them, he never hesitated to step out of his way to lend a helping hand. This is one of the many stories Angel leaves us with. He was a true Angel on earth to all.

He lives on in all of his good deeds but mostly in the kind hearts, he molded in each one of his daughters. Angel’s life is an invitation to continue serving with generosity and love. Angel had a heart that loved intensely and gave selflessly to all. His absence on Earth will be one that will be felt strongly and profoundly. His life will continue to inspire others.

Angel Berrocal fue un ser humano extraordinario que estuvo a la altura de su nombre. Era un padre orgulloso y cariñoso para sus tres hijas Liliana Stephanie, Lydia Nathalie y Anali Rose. Era un esposo cariñoso y ejemplar para Lidia Rosa Berrocal, su esposa durante 32 años. Adoraba a su único nieto, Elias Hunter Harris y eran compañeros inseparables.

Angel nació en Lima, Perú, hijo de Santiago Berrocal Leon y Amadora Alva de Berrocal. Fue el quinto de seis y mostró un amor único por sus hermanos Antonio, Julio, Gloria, Santiago y Elizabeth. Con su familia, deja innumerables historias de ser guía y tío cariñoso a todas sus sobrinas y sobrinos. Aunque fue inmensamente amado y tuvo una vida increíble en Perú, donde también conoció a su esposa, valientemente comenzó una nueva vida aquí en los Estados Unidos. Nunca olvidó sus raíces y supo firmemente que tenía un deber con su país y nunca renunció a su otro amor, el Perú. Trabajó en estrecha colaboración con y para el gobierno peruano y los peruanos que viven en el exterior. Gracias a su educación tanto en economía como en derecho, pudo ayudar a muchos Peruanos. Fue miembro fundador de los Consejos de Consulta en el Consulado Peruano a nivel internacional durante años. Formó parte de la Asociación Ancash NJ USA, que ayudó principalmente a niños necesitados en las partes con poblaciones vulnerables en Perú. En su patriotismo, fundó las Convenciones PEX con otros líderes peruanos. También fue un líder en la comunidad peruana al participar en Peruvian Parade Inc. Se postuló para el Congreso de la Republica Peruano para representar a los peruanos que viven en el exterior.

Para todos los que lo conocieron, era un hombre generoso y de buen corazón. Igual de guerrero para quienes lo necesitaban, ya fueran familiares o extraños. Trataba a todos con dignidad y respeto. Era un hombre de fuerza y ​​fe, pero sobre todo un hombre de amor. Abrió su hogar y su corazón a cualquiera que lo necesitara. Con gusto daría más de lo que era posible, desde asesoramiento legal hasta un lugar para descansar o tan simple como una invitación a su casa para los bistecs a la parrilla que le encantaba hacer. Nunca negaría una solicitud para ayudar a alguien que lo necesitara. Ha albergado a innumerables familiares y amigos del vecindario de Perú.

También dio el regalo más preciado, su tiempo. Participó en las comunidades cristianas en Perú y Estados Unidos. Como catequista y miembro de la Hermandad del Señor de los Milagros en Lima Perú y la Virgen del Carmen aquí en Paterson.

Igual que pasar incontables horas en el juzgado de Paterson ayudando a los inmigrantes traduciendo sus casos, sin conocer a ninguno de ellos. Él fue inspirado por un deseo de servir desinteresadamente. Fue un verdadero ángel en la tierra para todos.

El continuará viviendo en todos sus buenas obras pero mucho más en los corazones bondadosos que moldeó en cada una de sus hijas. La vida de Ángel es una invitación a continuar sirviendo con generosidad y amor.  Ángel tenía un corazón que amaba intensamente y se entregaba desinteresadamente a todos. Su ausencia en la Tierra será una que se sentirá fuerte y profundamente. Su vida seguirá inspirando a otros.
