Arthur R. Dirk, 96, of Cedar Grove died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022.
Born in the Singac Section of Little Falls, Mr. Dirk resided in Cedar Grove since 1955. He retired in 1984 from Western Electric Co. of Union where he was employed for 38 years.
Mr. Dirk was a Veteran of the US Navy serving during World War II as a Radioman in Okinawa aboard the USS LSM-187.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7506 of Little Falls. He walked in the annual Little Falls Memorial Day Parade until he was no longer able. Mr. Dirk was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a founding member of the Cedar Rod and Gun Club; was a devout fan of Notre Dame and NY Giants football and enjoyed Westerns and World War II cinema.
He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, the former Jeannette Burgess; his son, George Dirk; his son in law, Tom Bryan; his parents, Otto and Rose (nee Bogli) Dirk; and his siblings: Dorothy Walton, Bertha Sisco and William Dirk.
Survivors include: his son, Robert Dirk of Cedar Grove; his daughter, Diane Bryan of Vernon; his daughter in law, Kimberly Dirk of Brick; his two grandchildren, Jacqueline and James Bryan and his great grandson, Aydin Bubay.
Visitation will be 4-7 pm Thursday at Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Little Falls. Funeral will be 10AM Friday from the funeral home followed by interment at Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa.
