Barbara Ann (Winkler) Ward

Barbara Ann Ward, 80, of Totowa died Monday, April 13, 2020.

Born in Jersey City, she lived in Little Falls until 1976, when she and her husband moved to Totowa. She graduated from Passaic Valley High School in Little Falls and Katherine Gibbs School in Montclair. She worked as a secretary of American Standard in New York City, Bell Laboratories in Whippany, and as an administrative assistant to the Director of the Counseling Center at Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT) from January 1964 to January of 1974. After raising her family, she became secretary to the Director of Religious Education at Saint James Church in Totowa retiring after twelve years.   

One of her greatest joys was being a devoted grandma, attending the activities and taking pride in all the accomplishments of her two grandchildren.

She was a devoted fan of the New York Giants, being a season ticket holder since 1966 and attending two Super Bowls, both won by the Giants.

She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Helen (nee Okis) Winkler.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Paul; her daughter, Elizabeth and husband Joseph Patten of Totowa and her two grandchildren Matthew Patten of Washington D.C. and Brittany Patten of Totowa, three godchildren, many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins, and friends, especially the “Monday Night Girls Club”. 

A celebration of life mass will be scheduled at a later date and donations can be made to The Little Sisters of the Poor, 140 Shepherd Lane, Totowa, NJ 07512.
