Obituary

BOLIVAR A. RIVADENEIRA, 88, of NEWARK died Monday, January 16, 2023.

Born in Quito, Ecuador, Bolivar came to the United States in 1982 settling in Newark and resided there since. “Don Bolivar” as friends and family members called him, worked at NFI Industries of Edison, NJ for 20+ years as a forklift operator. He competed in multiple marathons over the years finishing in first or near the top for his age bracket. Bolivar loved to read and talk about history, politics, and his experiences in the Ecuadorian military. He loved futbol and boxing, watching any game or fight that was on. He was a sharp dressed man that loved to accent his outfits with his favorite RayBan shades, and his favorite flat cap. Bolivar loved to take long walks almost as much as his passion for food. There was no meal big enough for Bolivar and no food that he would not try. With a good glass of wine, he was complete. Bolivar loved to laugh by telling jokes, making silly faces, or simply enjoying old stories with his family and friends. Dancing was in his blood and when the music was right Bolivar was on the dance floor at a party or simply enjoying a dance with his daughters in the living room. Bolivar’s greatest joy was his family, his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His will live on in their hearts and minds as they will always remember his kindness, his smile as you enter a room and the joy had for life. RIP Don Bolivar!

Bolivar is survived by his wife, the former Aida M, Astudillo; his four daughters, Katiusca (Kathy) Rivadeneira- Blunt and her husband, Anthony Blunt, Sonia Torres, Rosa and Martha Villavicencio; his seven grandchildren, Johanna Aria, Anthony Torres and his wife, Kristin, Paul Arias, Daniella Colebrooke, Samantha Villacis, Jacob and Ryan Blunt, and his great grandchildren, Audrey and Aria Oleas, Lennon and Elliott Torres and Paulette Arias.
