Charles S. Cavadini, age 87, passed away on September 25, 2022.
Charles was born in Christ Hospital, Jersey City, NJ. He and his family lived in several places including, North Bergen, Clifton and Little Falls, NJ, before retiring in Spring Run Golf Club, Estero, Florida.
In his own words: “Charles graduated from Weehawken High School as the Class Treasurer and excelled in baseball, basketball, and tennis. He was named to the All-County Team as a pitcher. He was also named to the NJ Semi Pro All Star Team where he pitched a no-hitter and was named Most Valuable Player in the Tournament of Champions.
Charles served in the US Army from 1955-57 as a radar operator. He attended Rutgers and the American Institute of Banking.
He was an avid NY Yankees and Giants fan and had a passion for baseball, tennis, and golf. He was a member of the Glen Ridge Country Club and Spring Run Golf Club in Estero, Florida.
In 1962, he established the Charles S. Cavadini Insurance Agency in North Bergen, NJ. The agency moved to Jersey City before relocating to Lyndhurst, NJ in 1969. His son, Chuck Cavadini, joined the business in 1978. Charles served as President of the Independent Insurance Agents of Bergen County (IIABC), and in 1978 received the designation of Certified Insurance Counselor and named Insurance Man of the Year by the Bergen County Agents in 1983.
Charles was the only son of Mary and Joseph Cavadini. Joseph was twelve years old when he immigrated with his parents from Como, Italy. Mary was born in Jersey City.”
Predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Genevieve ( nee O’Reilly) Hilliard Cavadini. Beloved father to Chuck Cavadini and his wife Laura, Linda Cavadini, Marian Braun and her husband Scott, Karen Glaser and her husband, Patrick, David Hilliard and his wife Dana, Loretta Gallagher and her husband Dennis, Jean Hughes and her husband William. Devoted grandfather to Nicole Nguyen and her husband John, Natalie Porcella and her husband Gerard, Jamie Flecknoe and her husband Matthew, Michael Rosenbloom and his wife Kristen, Daniel Gustavson, Kristy Gustavson, Steven Glaser, Christina Glaser, Jessica O’Keefe, Jenna Pascarelli and her husband James, Gabrielle Kretinin and her husband Andrey, Kyle Hilliard, Kira L’Amoureux and her husband Christopher, Genevieve Hughes, William Hughes and Reilly Hughes. Great grandfather to Grace Nguyen, Evelyn Nguyen, Juliet Porcella, Anya and Sebastian Kretinin, Mila Pascarelli, Scarlet and Daphne L’Amoureux.
Charles was a congregant of Our Lady of the Holy Angels RC Church in Little Falls, NJ, the First Lutheran Church in Clifton, NJ and Our Lady of the Light in Estero, Florida.
Visitation will be held at Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Little Falls, NJ on Wednesday September 28th, from 4:00-8:00pm. The funeral mass will be Thursday, September 29th at 9:30am at Our Lady of the Holy Angels RC Church, 473 Main Street, Little Falls, NJ. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
