CHRISTA A. (nee GLOD) LIMONE, 52, of Woodland Park died suddenly from a pulmonary embolism on July 20 at St. Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson.
Christa was a lifelong resident of the Passaic Valley area, raised in the Singac section of Little Falls by her parents, the late John and Barbara Glod (nee Ores).
Known as Creet to her friends, Christa was a proud member of the Passaic Valley High School marching band and played multiple instruments. Her teenage daughter Josie is proudly following in her footsteps at PVHS. Christa graduated from PVHS in 1991 and went on to earn a degree at William Paterson University.
During those early high school and college years, Christa wrote. She kept diaries, recording the good times and bad times in her life. She would go on to be a writer in her career, working for the Passaic Valley and Wayne Today for nearly 20 years, including a long stint as the editor in chief of those two local newspapers.
In 2017, Christa was hired to fill a new position in the borough and school district of Woodland Park: chief information officer. Christa kept residents informed about the goings-on in the schools and in the borough, compiling weekly newsletters and manning social media accounts. Christa was a presence at school and town events, in her professional and personal life. She was a top-notch photographer.
Throughout her professional life, Christa quietly got the job done. She was a reserved and humble person who viewed her work as a service to residents as well as a source for personal accomplishment.
Christa and her husband Jerry met at North Jersey Newspapers in the late 1990s in a courtship that included passions they shared: NHL hockey and the Jersey shore. They were married in 2002, moved to Woodland Park the following year and started their family in 2005 with the birth of their son, Alex. Josie followed 6 years later. All throughout, their family always had cats, another of Christa's life passions. She was supremely dedicated to her husband, children and furry children.
When not working, Christa enjoyed quiet nights in her home and loved her entertainment with a passion that matched the passion for her family and community, whether it was Star Wars, Survivor, Marvel, Harry Potter, Stranger Things, Dexter, Bluey or Chicago Fire/PD.
Christa always longed for the Jersey shore, and some of the best times of her life were spent with friends on the Seaside Heights boardwalk and family on the Ocean City boardwalk.
In addition to husband Jerry and children Josie and Alex, Christa is survived by her Aunt Donna and Uncle Joe and her aunt Kathy.
A memorial gathering will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 26 at Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Little Falls.
