Donald Thompson Obituary

Donald J. Thompson, 77, of Little Falls died Monday, January 22, 2024, peacefully at home.

Born in Paterson, he resided in Totowa before moving to Little Falls 50 years ago where he raised his family. He retired in 2019 as the owner of Advanced Sheet Metal Co. of Paterson. Mr. Thompson was a former member of St. Anthony’s Men’s Club of Paterson and was a current member of the Do-Gooders Club of Totowa. He enjoyed card games as a pastime and treasured the friendships he made through his membership in those clubs.

Mr. Thompson loved antique trucks and tinkered in restoring them earning the nickname "Tin Man.” His canine companions were always dear to him. He loved his big dogs, but he was also a lover of all animals; he was forever feeding the birds and the small creatures who crossed his path.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years the former Marie Consalvo; his three children, Jean-Marie Vantuno of Fairfield, Mark Thompson of Montville, and Ryan Thompson of Stockholm; his two brothers, Robert Thompson of Florida and Alen Thompson of Totowa; his sister, Carol Talitsch of Bradenton, FL and his three grandchildren whom he adored and who made him so proud every single day Olivia Vantuno, Laney Thompson and Shawn Thompson. His departure will be sadly felt by his children, his family, and friends, but most especially by his grandchildren who joyfully called him Pop-Pop.
