Edward Fred Von Bargen

Edward Fred Von Bargen, known affectionately as Ed, passed away in Little Falls, New Jersey, after a life marked by devotion to family, service, and extraordinary professional achievement.
Born on July 19, 1942, in Jersey City, New Jersey, he lived with purpose, warmth, and a steadfast commitment to the people and work he loved.

Ed spent his formative years in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey, where he attended Wood-Ridge Elementary School and Wood-Ridge High School. He distinguished himself as an All-County football player, a reflection of the determination and discipline that would remain with him throughout his life. He later continued his education at Fairleigh Dickinson University, building upon the values and work ethic that had already taken root in his youth.
He answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army and the United States Army Reserves, and he was honorably discharged in 1965 as a rifleman. His military service was a source of pride and stood as one more example of his sense of duty and character. After his service, Ed entered the family business, Entenmann’s Florist in Jersey City, which had been owned by the family and operating since 1929. Through dedication, skill, and a natural eye for design, he helped carry that legacy forward until his retirement in 2025.
Ed’s reputation in the floral industry was unparalleled. He was respected not only for his artistry, but also for his professionalism and the trust he inspired in others. He served as President of FTD from 1983 to 1984, a role that reflected the esteem in which he was held by his peers. He was also a team designer for White House Christmas Décor from 1975 to 1983, a remarkable honor that spoke to his talent and creativity. In addition, he supplied many of the floral arrangements for Super Bowl XLVII at MetLife Stadium and served as the florist for Royal Caribbean Cruise Line launches out of Bayonne. He was widely sought after for his funeral designs, where his work brought dignity, beauty, and comfort to countless families during times of loss.
A Christian and Mason, Ed lived his faith through the way he treated others, through his loyalty, and through the integrity he brought to all that he did. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, cousin, and friend whose presence brought strength and steadiness to those around him.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick E. and Frances Von Bargen (née Winterton), as well as his brother, Frederick Von Bargen, his sister, Peggy Von Bargen and nephew Tom Von Bargen.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie; his son, Edward John “EJ” Von Bargen, and his wife, Stephanie, née Oxley, of Pompton Lakes; his two grandsons, Blaise Walker and OzzieJames Von Bargen; his nephew, Bob Von Bargen, and his wife, Suzanne; his sister-in-law, Linda Lorenc; his brother-in-law, Joseph Grassi; and his cousins, Jane Smith and William Von Bargen.
He felt lucky to be a boss, mentor and friend of such a devoted staff whom he loved and respected. Work was never a burden with them at his side Ed Von Bargen’s life was one of service, accomplishment, and devotion. He built a lasting legacy through his work, his family, and the many relationships he nurtured over the years. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 22, from 5-9 pm at Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Little Falls. Funeral Ceremony will be 10:00 am Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at the funeral home followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Saddle Brook.Those wishing to express their sympathies may send flowers or a contribution to a Veterans Organization listed below or by personal choice.
