ERIC STEPHEN BETLEY, 69, of Maywood died Monday, May 6, 2024 at Hackensack University Medical Center.
Born in Glen Ridge, Eric was raised in Fairfield and has resided in Bergen County for over 40 years. He was employed as a General Manager in the restaurant industry, currently at Taverna on the Green in Paramus. Previous employment was at Cameo, Dinallos, Bel Posto and The Stony Hill Inn.
He enjoyed throwing the most extravagant events and parties for everyone including the Yankees, politicians, brides, friends, and family. Many new clients ended up becoming his friend because his passion, kindness and generosity shined so bright.
Eric enjoyed a zest for life, traveling, and dining at the best restaurants to find the most prestigious wine, champagne, and food around the world.
He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Eleanor (Van Haelst) Betley.
Eric is survived by his brother, David Betley and his wife, Saralyn of Fairfield; his nephew, Kyle and niece, Bridget. He is also survived by Joan Cerbo, his best friend for over 40 years, and his French Bulldog, Ignatious.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 4-8 pm on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Little Falls. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, May 18, 2024 at St. Thomas More RC Church, 12 Hollywood Avenue, Fairfield. Interment of ashes to follow at Hillside Cemetery, Fairfield.
