George Shern
George is a true patriot and for his wife Stephanie, the love of her life. While George enjoyed almost all of his life, he had a hard start being born post WW2 to parents who had to work hard to support the family. George’s Dad died when he was 6 and his Mom sent all of her sons out to work after school and summers. George’s first job was working on a farm at age 8 picking vegetables for 25 cents an hour. He would be given a weekly allowance of 50 cents from his Mom and with it he would go to the movies each week. Through the years he worked hard at whatever he did, but planned his retirement at age 60. George then began his cycling "career" riding one of his 12 bikes for about 60 miles a day through Fairfield, Lincoln Park and and the annual 75 mile 5 borough ride in NYC. George tallied over 100,000 miles of cycling. He also loved chopping wood on our property and traveling. We went to Paris for 100 different visits, and loved every minute of our time there and elsewhere. George was born in Nanticoke PA. He served in the Air Force during the Viet Nam war and was lucky enough to to play football for the Air Force while stationed in Germany for 3 and 1/2 years of his 4 year tour of duty. Donations can be made to the Eagle Hose Co. 1. PO Box 203, Little Falls NJ 07424. We thank them for helping George when he needed them.
At George's request, there will not be any services.
