HAROLD P. NITCH, 81, of Little Falls died peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Sunday, June 11, 2023, following a brief illness.
Born in Harrison, New Jersey, Mr. Nitch resided in Little Falls for over 55 years. A graduate of Lyndhurst High School, he retired from Singer Kearfott/BAE Systems of Wayne where he was employed for nearly 40 years.
Mr. Nitch was an active parishioner and usher at Holy Angels RC Church, Little Falls. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1959–61 and a member of the USS Tidewater Association. From 1973–82, he served as cubmaster and scoutmaster for his two sons’ Boy Scout Pack and Troop #14. As a retiree, he enjoyed being a member of EAA and volunteered during tours of its B-17, Aluminum Overcast.
He was a beloved and dedicated father, grandfather, cousin and friend — generously and eternally invested in the well-being of his loved ones. He doted on family dogs and admired the various wildlife passing through his yard. An avid gardener, he took great pride in growing summer vegetables, especially his famous Jersey tomatoes. He had a lifelong interest in history, politics, shooting sports, and travel.
Mr. Nitch was predeceased by his parents, Theodore J. and Josephine W. (nee Mruk) Nitch.
His memory will be cherished by his four children: Paul, Steven, Karen, and Allison; and four granddaughters, Kayleigh (and her husband, Mark), Aubrey, Shyannah, and Mariah.
