Hector L. Ortiz

HECTOR L. ORTIZ, 79, of Paterson died Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

Born in Puerto Rico, Mr. Ortiz came to the United States in 1958 settling in Paterson where he resided until 1975 when he returned to Puerto Rico. In 1988, he returned to the US where he worked as a musician. He built a beautiful family and loved his music, playing the guitar, singing and writing classical music. He has become a bit of YouTube sensation as Hector “El Guitarrista” Ortiz.

Mr. Ortiz attended St. John the Baptist Cathedral and prayed the rosary every morning and every night.

He is survived by his four children, Yvelisse Velasquez Ortiz of Hawthorne, Yevette James of Grovetown, Ga., Yvonne Ortiz of Fort Lee and Armando Ortiz of Union Beach, NJ.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Little Falls followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. Click HERE for Livestream of Visitation and Service
