JOHN S. DI SOMMA, 64, of Little Falls passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024.
Born in Hoboken, New Jersey, he grew up in Jersey City, moving to Little Falls in 1985. John was a self-employed Master Plumber under the name of Di Somma Plumbing and Heating, LLC of Little Falls. At one time his two sons, John and Joseph, were working with him and John was very proud of his boys.
John was a man of many hobbies and enjoyed tinkering with just about anything. What stuck out most was his fondness for entertainment. His self-built bar was featured in the Ale Street Newspaper in 1996, where he was quoted "Build your own bar and become the most popular person in town."
It didn't stop there. Some years later he built a tiki bar where he continued to entertain family, friends, and neighbors. Great music, cold drinks, and a dip in the pool to cool off have been enjoyed by many!
John was full of life to the very end. A hard-working man who understood life was not all about work, but also enjoying the fruits of your labor. He lived, laughed, and loved his way through life.
He will forever be remembered as an outgoing, rambunctious, free spirited soul.
He was predeceased by his parents, Salvatore and Angelina (nee Alfieri) Di Somma.
John is survived by his wife of 38 years, the former Gail Coccetti; his two sons, John Di Somma and his fiancé, Jessica McDermott of Little Falls and Joseph Di Somma and his fiancé, Joia Seriale of Wanaque; his two sisters, Carol Curnkey of Branchville, NJ and Rose DePoto of Nutley; and his two granddaughters, Venice Seriale- Di Somma and Summer Di Somma.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi RC Church, 868 Ringwood Avenue, Haskell, New Jersey 07420. Those wishing to express their sympathies may consider a contribution to St Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place., Memphis, TN 38105
