John L. Schumacher, of Cedar Grove, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. A lifelong resident of New Jersey, John was born on October 19, 1942 in Paterson to Joseph and Marie (Doughaen) Schumacher. He worked his way through school, graduating from Fairleigh Dickinson with a BA and Seton Hall University with an MBA. John worked as an accountant at American Cyanamid in Wayne for almost 25 years. He then worked at Pfizer in Morris Plains for almost a decade before retiring in 2006 as the Director of Global Finance. John was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing all over New Jersey and the East Coast. He also enjoyed devoting his time to being an active member and officer of the Knights of Columbus Council 3835 and Assembly 0645. There he happily volunteered his time with various charities such as collecting supplies for the Father English Center in Paterson and raising money for the Knight’s annual disability drive.
John’s most treasured time was with his family. He was married to his beloved wife, Kathy, for 58 years and was a constant presence in his children’s lives and activities. Being a Pop Pop was one of his proudest titles and he loved spending quality time with his granddaughter.
John is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Siuta), his children, Kevin, and Karen (Ciaglia) and her husband Giuseppe, granddaughter, Katelyn, brother, Joseph of Plano, Texas, and nieces and nephews.
