JOHN A. “JACK” SPELLMAN, 90, of Totowa died Wednesday, Oct, 25, 2023 at home.
Born in Waltham, Massachusetts, Mr. Spellman resided in Oradell, NJ, entering the US Navy in 1951, making a 30-year career out of Naval service and retired in 1977 as a Senior Chief. Since 1977 he has been a resident of New Jersey, most recently in Totowa.
Mr. Spellman was a parishioner of Holy Angels RC Church, Little Falls, where he was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister. He and his late wife, Jay, were members of Cross Trail Squares square dancing club.
He was predeceased by his wife, Joephine “Jay” (nee DiGangi) in 2018 and his stepson, Anthony Giampapa, in 2021.
Survivors include: his children Janet Czapor of Anaheim, Ca.; his two sons, James and Kevin Spellman, both of San Diego, Ca.; his stepchildren, Joseph Giampapa of Ovito, FL and MaryAnne Giampapa of Nashville, TN; his three sisters, Mary Brucker, Elizabeth Tragno and Margaret Coats; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A Graveside Service with funeral Military Honors will be 10:30 am Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Calvary Cemetery, 58 McLean Boulevard, Paterson (GPS: Use 62 Lakeview Avenue, Paterson) (Please meet inside front gate of cemetery for procession to grave). Memorial Contributions to Holy Angels RC Church, 465 Main Street, Little Falls, NJ 07424 would be appreciated.
