Joseph Nuzzo, Sr., Esq. Obituary

Joseph C. Nuzzo, Sr., 82, of Kinnelon died Sunday, February 16, 2025 at home.

Born in Paterson, Mr. Nuzzo resided in Butler for 55 years. A Certified Civil Trial Attorney, he maintained his law practice in Wayne for several years. Mr. Nuzzo was a 1964 graduate of Rutgers University in New Brunswick and a 1967 graduate of Seton Hall Law School. He was a member of the New Jersey State and Passaic County Bar Associations. Mr. Nuzzo was a long-time member of the Passaic Valley/Little Falls Rotary Club where he was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow.

An active member of the community, Mr. Nuzzo served as Mayor of Butler in the late 1980’s. He also served on the Butler Board of Education and Board of Adjustment and was a founding member of the Butler Soccer Association. Additionally, he was President of Camp Sunshine and Camp Snowflake in Ridgewood, NJ, for many years. While Mr. Nuzzo was active in the community and always made time to support his friends and colleagues, his primary hobby was spending time with his family, travelling, golfing with his sons, coaching their soccer teams, and spending time with his granddaughters in his later years.

Mr. Nuzzo was predeceased by his daughter whom he loved and adored, Joann M. Nuzzo, on July 2, 2023; by his sister, Frances McNerney, and by his parents, Charles and Anna (nee Palladino) Nuzzo. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Jennie (nee Ferriola); his two sons, Charles and his wife Lori of Fredon, and Joseph and his wife Amanda of Randolph; and his adored granddaughters Holly and her fiancé, Kyle, Josephine, Olivia and Brielle. He is also survived by his brother Ralph and his wife Lynn of Essex Fells and Charles of North Carolina, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His family is also grateful to his caregivers and Suncrest Hospice.
