Lore (Hannelore) Geiger Obituary

Lore (Hannelore) E. Geiger, 96, passed on Monday, June 23, 2025 peacefully at her home of 62 years in Haworth, New Jersey.

She was born in the small town of Dahl located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. After graduating Nursing School and obtaining her degree with a focus on neonatal care, Lore moved to the United States and had the distinct privilege of travelling on the Transatlantic Ocean Liner SS United States as part of her voyage to a new world.

Upon arrival in New York, Lore was able to secure a much-coveted position in the neonatal intensive care unit at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. A position she cherished and maintained for several years.

In 1956 she married her late husband Herbert and together she began the next chapter in life which included assisting her husband in developing and growing his construction business which eventually included many celebrity clients including entertainers Tony Bennett, Jerry Vale and various members of the Tonight Show Orchestra before Johnny Carson moved the show to Burbank, California in 1972.

Through her decades in Haworth, she was dedicated to raising her son Peter and was always kind, welcoming, clever and she always spoke highly of others. Lore saw the best in everyone, and she always wanted you to feel special.

Lore and Herbert enjoyed traveling throughout the world, always stopping to see relatives and travel throughout Europe, New Zealand, and the US.

Lore was a special cook who enjoyed all the trappings and entertaining associated with authentic and proper commemoration of Oktoberfests each and every year.

An accomplished skier and golfer who placed in the top finishers in many tournaments, she loved being with people in sport and in life in general. She was proud of her family and always wanted to know how is the family on this night. She wanted the family to be more secure and happier than the day before, standing strong and maintaining a glow for life holding steady no matter what the storm or life brings. Lore did her part for many and for her years of caring for newborns, family or friends: She did it. She made a difference and she left all whose life she touched in good hands. All in all, not bad, not bad at all.

Lore is predeceased by her brother Josef, her beloved husband Herbert. She is survived by her son Peter, cherished daughter-in-law Kelly and Cousin Herbert Eschbach. She will be missed by many.
