Lottie D. Cappetta (née Zilnicki) of Little Falls passed away peacefully on February 21, 2023. She was 100 years old.
The daughter of Michelina (Jablonski) and Vincent Zilnicki, Lottie was born May 23, 1922 in Southold, Long Island and lived on the family’s farm in Riverhead until she moved to Newark.
Lottie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael; her daughter, Arlene Natale and son-in-law, James; son, Robert and four brothers.
She is survived by her daughter, Michele, grandchildren and family, Michael and Meg Natale and their daughter Angela Natale; Mark and Laurie Natale and their children, Alexandra, Christopher and Madeline Natale, and Marlene and George Gray and their children, Jonathan, Matthew, Anthony and Michael Gray. Lottie is also survived by her sister, Helen Sadowski and many nieces and nephews.
Lottie was proud of her Polish heritage and her family’s contributions as first generation farmers on Long Island. Lottie loved gardening, especially her many Christmas cactuses. She was also an avid reader, collector of fine china and glassware, and enjoyed her vast collection of Hummels. An excellent cook, Lottie’s chicken cutlets and meatballs were legendary. Lottie’s favorite pastime was sitting at the kitchen table sharing a cup of coffee or tea and a cookie and talking for hours with friends and family especially with “Petunia”.
Visitation on Friday, February 24 from 4-8 pm at Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Little Falls. Funeral services will be 9:00 am Saturday from the funeral home and 9:30 am at Holy Angels R.C. Church, 465 Main St. at Route 23, Little Falls. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
