Martha E. (Merchant) Young

MARTHA E. (nee Merchant) YOUNG, 94, formerly of Wayne, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2025 at Parker at River Road in Piscataway.

Born in Glen Ridge, NJ to Harry and Florence (nee Davidson) Merchant, she resided in Wayne for most of her life before moving to Piscataway in 2019. Martha retired as a teacher with the Oakland Board of Education.

Martha was an active participant at Shomrei Torah in Wayne and was a member of the Wayne Democratic Club, the National, New Jersey and Bergen County Education Associations.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Carol Walsh, formerly of Nutley, her stepson, Arthur Merchant, her grandson, David Hunter Walsh, her dear friend, Anne Kersnowski and her niece and nephew, Kathy and Bucky.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10-11AM Wednesday at Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Little Falls followed by a funeral service at 11AM conducted by Rabbi Randall Mark of Shomrei Torah of Wayne. Entombment of follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa. Memorial Contributions to Shomrei Torah, 30 Hinchman Avenue, Wayne, NJ 07424 would be appreciated.
