Before marriage, she was employed as a bank teller by Citizens Trust Company in Paterson. Later she became executive assistant to John H. Flagg, President of Flagg Machine Company and eventually retired as an actuarial assistant at Stone, Young and Co. (now Wyatt and Watson).
After marrying her husband, Martin A. Bagden, they moved to Little Falls where she lived for more than 50 years. They had two children, Barbara and Alan. She was well known by her friends and the friends of her children for her always welcoming home. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and volunteered at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, NJ. She was an active member of The Women’s Club of Little Falls for more than 25 years. Since 2005, she had been a well-known and respected resident at Cedar Crest Senior Living Community in Pompton Plains, NJ.
In her younger years she loved Christmas, sewing, beaches, entertaining, cooking, ice skating and travelling. In her last years, she loved her visits to Sag Harbor with family and friends. She will be remembered for her love of family, her elegance and always stylish attire, her sound and sensible advice, and her unbreakable strength.
One of her favorite memories was going to Times Square, NY, with her girlfriends, upon the announcement of the end of World War II, while she waited for Martin, the love of her life, to return from service for the US Navy.
