Mary (née Machovsky) Kovach, 93, of Clifton passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2020 at home surrounded by her family.
Born in Horne Ostroatrokouce, Czechoslovakia, Mrs. Kovach came to the United States at the age of 9, settling in Jersey City before moving to Canada. Upon her return to the United States, she eventually settled in Clifton, NJ.
She was a magnificent oil painter and her family still enjoys all of her many paintings. She was also an avid gardener and her garden was the envy of all of her neighbors. She never said no to an adventure, and her grandchildren have many fond memories of all of the things they used to do together.
Mrs. Kovach was predeceased by her husband, Joseph P. Kovach, in 2010, her brother Joseph Machovsky in 2019, and by her sons William and Timothy.
She is survived by four of her children: Linda Meola of Elmwood Park, NJ, Kathy Tecza and her husband, Paul of Clifton, NJ, Joseph Kovach and his wife, Beverly of Pompton Plains and James Kovach of Whiting, NJ; her eight grandchildren: Thomas, Melissa, Christian, Jennifer, Donna, Michael, Katie, Kristen, and eight great-grandchildren.
