MAUREEN J. (nee Smith) DIENES, 84 of Allamuchy Township, formerly of West Paterson and Rockaway, died peacefully at home with her family on Friday, September 13, 2024.
Family was the cornerstone of Maureen’s life, and she lived every day making sure that they felt her boundless love. She paused her career to raise her children, and she retired so that she could care for her grandchildren. Maureen shared a home with her daughter’s family, so she was there for all of the special and every day moments. There was nothing more important to her than her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter and best friend Joanne Ferguson and her husband Gary of Allamuchy, her loving son, John J. Dienes, Jr. and his wife Jeanine of Ridgewood, her three treasured grandchildren, Ry Ferguson, Cooper Ferguson and Jack Dienes, as well as her loyal furry companion, Jessie.
Maureen was a teacher, having received her BS in Education from Seton Hall University and taught Social Studies at Hackensack Junior High School and Our Lady of the Holy Angels School for over thirty years. Nevertheless, this does not begin to tell the story of her professional life. Mrs. D, as she was fondly called, made magic happen in and out of the classroom. She enveloped her middle school students with love and affection, while teaching them lessons about the world, our nation, and themselves that would last a lifetime. Her students adored her, her colleagues admired her, and the school community was grateful for her dedication.
Maureen Dienes will be missed by many, but she will be long remembered by everyone who was lucky enough to share this moment in time with her.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024 at Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Little Falls. Please meet at 9:30 am Wednesday for a Funeral Liturgy at Holy Angels RC Church, 465 Main St., Little Falls. Interment to follow at First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Rockaway.
