PHILIP S. VAN PELT, 66, of Clifton died Sunday, April 18, 2021.
Born in Orange, New Jersey, Mr. Van Pelt was raised in Clifton, attended St. Philip the Apostle Grammar School and was a 1973 graduate of Clifton High School. After graduation, Mr. Van Pelt served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War era as an Aviation Electrician’s Mate on the USS Saratoga Aircraft Carrier. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Mr. Van Pelt resided in Forked River before returning to Clifton fifteen years ago. He was the Technical Services Supervisor of Fancort Industries of West Caldwell where he was employed for the last fifteen years.
Mr. Van Pelt was a guitarist, singer and song writer for the blues band, “The Broomdusters” with his friend and fellow musician, Ray Nolan. In addition, Philip was a huge University of Michigan Wolverine fan.
Mr., Van Pelt was predeceased by his parents, Myron and Gertrude (nee O’Brien) Van Pelt and is survived by his longtime companion, Jeryl Ann Schneider; his daughter, Christine Van Pelt of Toms River, NJ; his siblings, Linda Cellini and her husband, Stephen of Forked River, NJ, Ellen Van Pelt and Clifford Caines of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Lapinski and her husband, Leo of Spring Hill, FL, Clare Stevenson and her husband, Thomas of Alexandria, TN, Carol Van Pelt of Lanoka Harbor, NJ and Peter Van Pelt and his wife, Sandra of Toms River, NJ and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 9-10:30 am followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Service at Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Little Falls. Interment to follow at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, Clifton.
