Rodney (Rod) DePope, 81, of West Paterson, passed away Friday, June 24, 2022 after a long battle with Parkinson Disease. Born in Paterson, Rod was a lifelong resident of West Paterson. Rod was self-employed in the construction trade. He was a craftsman who could build anything and repair everything. Prior to retirement, Rod was employed for several years as the caretaker at Saint Bonaventure R.C. Church in Paterson.
He was predeceased by his parents, Franklin C. DePope and Marie Diane (Corbin) DePope; his brother, Major Charles L. DePope; and his sister, Marilyn R. Vander Meulen and her husband, Garry; his uncle, Tony Sisco; and his brother-in-law, Dominic Barra.
Survivors include: his beloved wife of 59 years, Sandra (Depew) DePope; his devoted son, Jason DePope and his wife, Nadine; his aunt, Marie Evelyn Sisco; his sister-in-law, Marie DePope (the late Charles); three sisters, Carol Javits and her husband, George, Shirley Barra and Lynn Spotz and her husband, Jeff; two brothers, Lloyd DePope and his wife, Gail and Wayne DePope and his wife, Bonnie; many cousins and multi generations of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:30 pm at Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Little Falls followed by a 7:30 pm funeral service. Private cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Bonaventure Church, 174 Ramsey Street, Paterson, NJ 07501.
