Ronald Johnston Obituary

Ronald A. Johnston of Little Falls, NJ passed on February 21, 2023.

A self-taught master stair-builder whose pride was expressed in the family-owned business, Dependable Cabinet and Stair Co. of Little Falls, NJ established in 1950. He is survived by his wife Lenore Johnston of 30 years and the prides of his life, his children Brielle Johnston and Luke Johnston. The faded memory of his life will be cherished by his 15 month old grandson, Levi DePasquale as he sits atop his final legacy, the last staircase he ever built.

Ron is survived by his siblings Gary Johnston of Jacobus, PA, Laurie Johnston of Blairstown, NJ, Joyce Johnston-Tripp of Glenwood, NJ and Elaine Johnston of Vernon, NJ. He is also survived by his in-laws Sandy Johnston of Jacobus, PA, Karen Iuculano of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, John Competiello of Poland, NY, and Cynthia Foley and husband Robert Foley of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ.  A proud godfather to Meaghan Tullo of Little Falls, NJ, Erica Tripp of Vernon, NJ, Kelly Caccavella of Hewitt, NJ and Shawn Johnston of York, PA. A proud uncle to Katie Tripp of Vista, CA, Amanda Caccavella of West Milford, NJ, Gwyn Miller of York, PA, Renee Morgan of Manchester, PA, Isabella Foley and Alex Iuculano, both of Hasbrouck Heights.  A proud cousin, a great-uncle, and a friend to so many, too numerous to mention. And his most desired furry friend and side-kick for 15 years, his dog, COHL.

Ron was a perfectionist whose pride for life was immensely high. He was an honest man both in personal and business life, was loved and well-respected by so many who adorned his life from early childhood to friendships gained throughout his career. His life was expressed through his master craftsmanship and he set no boundaries nor limits until diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. It was then he set the boundaries and limits!

A simple man who enjoyed family, the beach, walks in the woods with his dog, and a good beer while sitting in front of his fireplace was his comfort. His infectious laugh was heard by many and his love for machinery and tools was his compassion. He was a man who always extended his hand to help others and expected nothing in return. He prided himself with the respect he always gave to others and kept family values instilled by his parents, Ralph and Elsie Johnston high on his priority list throughout his life. A worrier beyond explanation with a warrior approach when it came to guiding others and telling others not to worry. He loved perfect simplicity!
