Rosemarie (Chaban) Mattes

Rosemarie (nee Chaban) Mattes, 93, of Pompton Plains died Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Cedar Crest Village, Pompton Plains.

Born in Russia, Mrs. Mattes came to the United States in 1954, settling in Schiller Park, Ill. before moving to Little Falls in 1955. She moved to Pequannock and then to Cedar Crest Village a few years ago.

Mrs. Mattes was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of the Incarnation.

She was predeceased by her husband, Waldemar Mattes, in 2016.

Survivors include: her three children, Eric Mattes of Closter, Victoria Risavy of Pompton Lakes and Ingrid Schnug of South Carolina; her two brothers, Edward Chaban of Delaware and Alfred Chaban of Murray Hill, NJ; her five grandchildren, David, Kelly, Claudia, Alexander, Lucas and her four great grandchildren, Leif, Bram, Aubrey and Abigail.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Bizub-Parker Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Little Falls. Please gather for a 10:00 am Service on Monday, August 21, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of the Incarnation, 220 Hamburg Tpke., Pompton Lakes, NJ. Interment to follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Paterson.
